Have a really nice Alpine CD unit in my bus but it has issues, it switches itself on and off at times and sometimes doesn`t work at all, would just normally chuck it away and replace but when fitted new cost £600, anyone know of anyone who can test etc

its a Alpine CDA-7894RB WITH A 624 CD CHANGER.

Ron

After fault finding revealed nothing have purchased a replacement head unit, now works fine, phew, saved a few £ there.

Ta for all the tips, helped eliminate and find a soloution.Smile

Had the same problem in michelles bug but it happend at low revs/idle so i just put it down to not enough battery power. Worth checking for a loose connection though

Ta Bud, it was like it for a while even before i bought the bus so i already new there was a prob with it, was going to buy a new face off unit for it but would prefer to get it checked over 1st to see if its worth keeping, will pay to check wiring as its a strong possibility.

Ta Liam

Might be worth wireing a capacitor in line if its due to low voltage on idle/low revs. Bit above my head though!

Do you have dynamo or alternator that might answer it . . . might be too much for the dynamo, I would have thought a 55 amp alternator should power it ok unless you have a lot of other stuff running.
