Fuel Gauge
Hi,
I had......still have issues with my fuel gauge, as many do, no longer works. I have had the sender changed and put a new stabiliser on, but it still does not work.
Is there any advise on what else I could try? Could it be the gauge itself?
Cheers
Rob

Re: Fuel Gauge
I don't? and wouldn't know where to start to be honest. I had a look in the Haynes, but couldn't find much in there. Would there be a fuse for it as well or would that be for the whole unit i.e spedo as well?

Re: Fuel Gauge
It doesn't work at all. Might see if I can swap it over with my mates and see if that works?

Re: Fuel Gauge
Wiring wise you want to get a digital meter and see if your getting voltage through it or buzz the wires out . . . try just putting an earth on the gauge too it could be that!

Re: Fuel Gauge
Your fuel gauge fuse is Number 11 which should also have your indicators, alternator and oil pressure lights going through it. If they're working then just check the cables (specifically the terminals at the back of the fusebox, they can be broken but look intact from a distance).
Agree with Daz get a little multimeter that will take the guess work out of what's working and what isn't. You can get a cheap one for under £5.00 that are reliable.
A lesson I have learned is just because you replace something with new never take for granted that it works! I had a problem with a brake switch and after 3 duds the 4th one worked.
