Seat identification
Anybody identify what seats these are, or what vehicle they came from?
Also, any idea how I get them out!!!!!!

Re: Seat identification
They are probably bolted directly through the floor pan as they are non standard the orginal seats would have been secured by runners built into the floor. If you look underneath the car you may see nuts or bolt heads that can be undone

Re: Seat identification
Well, got them out.............finally!!
Ended up un-bolting the seat itself from the runners, and even with those off, I couldn't see any other way I would have done it!!
The frame and runners have a ford badge stamped in..............so my powers of deduction lead me to be believe they are originally ford!! Whether the seats are, I don't know!!!

Re: Seat identification
Thats interesting looks as if they did a reasonable job and they have built in some form of seat adjustment. I guess they welded the seat runners to the floor. If the seats are okay it may be better to keep them rather than to try to replace them with orginal ones. Most vw's have been modified at sometime in their lives and thats why there are so many around still rather than being scrapped like most other cars of the time I expect as you delve deeper you will find loads of bodges or should I say creative engineering.
Judging by the photos you still have the orginal beetle runners although they are later fittings ie 1972 on rather than 1968 so either the floor pan is later or the floor panels have been replaced with later ones.

Re: Seat identification
Yeah, think the seats are staying now!!
I reckon the floor pan has been replaced at some time as it only has one small hole, just in front of the battery bay about the size of a fag packet!
In fact, the only bits of welding required inside are that, and a couple of patches on the heater channels at the front, both left and right. I'm well happy, and now just have to find myself a mig!!

Re: Seat identification
Well if you did want to changing them for originals you would find it easier to find the later seats, early mk1 golf I believe fit those mounts too. The earlier beetle seat are harder to find and seem to go for some high money these days.
