Just brought the bus battery in the house to charge it and what a pong.......bad rotten eggs. Just been googling it and it implies that the battery is spent and dangerous and is highly explosive!
Any one got any info on rotten eggy batteries?

Yep bin it imagine it's sulphur your smelling ... i have seen the results of an exploding battery not good.
