New to the area Empty New to the area

Post by VeeDubMan Sat May 19 2012, 08:22

Hi. Couldn't see a newbie section anywhere so hope a post in here is OK.

We moved into Ashmansworth (between Newbury and Andover) in Sept 2010 and having had 2 kids, a house move and subsequent house renovations over the past 5 years, it's time to get back into the veedub scene and get our '71 early bay Dormobile back on the road.

There are some pics at http://www.steve-brown.co.uk/Gurtie/ of the early work and the later stuff is on Facebook (I'll find a link and post it later).

My daily driver is a hand-me-down Mitsubishi Carisma (was mother-in-laws) which I took to Southgate in Andover at some point last year. Got chatting to someone there who told me about Paul Wisk (who I called in to see last week - what a stack of barn-door porn he has there!) and hence the reason I ended up here.

Not sure if I can make the June meet yet, but if anyone is ever passing this way, feel free to drop in for a cuppa (stay-at-home Dad with a van to get on the road this summer) Very Happy

Cheers

Steve

Cheers guys. Are you easy to find? Any veedubs on the drive that make you easy to spot? pm me with details if you want. My daughter goes to Hurstbourne Tarrant Primary so even closer to call in at some point.

Here's the Facebook link too http://tinyurl.com/7zg6n4c

Cheers guys. Thanks for the replies.

I've not done a hugh amount of work on it since we moved but I'm hoping it'll be running this summer. Glad I did all the major dirty work before kids and moving house. Just got engine freshen up, electrics and brakes to do before MOTable (I hope...although you know what it's like with these things. One thing always leads to another!)

Hi Steve,

I am new to the club (only joined late last year) and have found everybody to be friendly and helpful.

I keep also finding out one problem leads to another so know where your coming from...

Hope to see you at the next meet

Cheers

July meet date looks free for me at the moment, so hope to head over there are meet some of you.

I was just trawling through some threads on VZi and an ad popped up saying Newbury, Berkshire on it. Just thought it was some clever web thing picking up my IP address and location...but it turns out it was for VooDooVW "based on the Berkshire / Hampshire borders just outside Newbury"! I know I've not lived here for long but to find Paul Wisk in one direction and now VooDooVW the other, I feel like this house move was a good thing Smile. Anyone else heard of VooDooVW and where they are exactly?

Yep seen there adverts about but dont know anything about them, strange after all these years in Andover and not coming across them before but there prices look competative and did you see this

With the continued expansion of our business and increase in vehicles
coming in for work, we are very pleased to announce that we are moving
into larger premises, near Highclere Castle.

Spoke to my neighbour last night who now drives and delivers for Unipart but was also once a VAG mechanic. Turns out he knows Rich Moon at VooDooVW and said they've now got a unit over near Highclere Castle. He described it as being down the lane opposite the Highclere Castle turn. It looks like it may be one of these then.

Went over there earlier on today. Yep, it's the first unit you come to up this lane. Loads of T2's in there at the moment.
