AK, local clubs and Friends Savernake BBQ – Sunday 13th July, plus Saturday camping

Here are more details for the July Savernake BBQ on the Sunday afternoon and early evening of Sunday 13th July.

Please put in your diaries and ensure that all of our fellow club members, local VW owners, local clubs and friends know.

Invite your friends and local VW drivers. We also hope to have visitors from a couple of local clubs.

The BBQ will be at the designated BBQ area in the lovely Savernake Forest. We will have the Coleman shelters up with lots of space so we can cope with the best or worst of July BBQ weather !

The BBQ will be subsidised with AK club funds as most club members have been invited and are attending. There will be hot dogs, burgers, onions and a selection of salads. Items will be just a £1 or 2, so low cost depending on numbers.

But BBQs will be fired up and available if you want to bring your own extra special selection. Bring your extra side dishes, accompliments and drinks and don't forget a beer or two for the BBQ chef team. Yes we will need BBQ volunteers from time to time.

We will be there from midday to the gates close at 7pm. And then maybe down to a Marlboough pub after for those that want it.

SATURDAY 12th JULY CAMPING:

A few of us are booked for the Saturday afternoon and evening to stay in the forest at the pretty campsite. From there you can wander down the hill to Marlborough (and crawl back) or enjoy the forest trails.

Oh yes, we will be doing the Saturday night camping and the Sunday BBQ, maybe best to also HIGHLIGHT that as we have all varying tastes etc, it's probably best to bring your own food to cook on the static BBQs, that way there will be very little waste as opposed to buying in bulk and gathering contributions towards the food, only my opinion however if others wish to do a bulk shop and join together then happy to go with the flow,,,,should be awesome day and night and day,

Thanks for putting the info on the ABVWC facebook page Daz, much appreciated, also just to highlight that the fixed BBQs have now been removed from the site, this was due to the minority idiots spoiling it for the rest of us by setting fires in them and running off.

Great to see some of you last night at Club night. I have updated the BBQ invite above, added it to ABVWC and AK facebook groups. Please invite anyone v dub related that you know and let's have another superb weekend.

We won't be camping but Keith, myself and the kids will be there for the BBQ and Tanya, Alex and Chloe plus a possible 2 others.

That's very good news indeed. We are not expecting masses of campers amongst the locals. We think most will do the Sunday. It might even be worth a few of you meeting up to convoy over. It only takes half an hour so it isn't far.

All that said, the Postern Hill forest campsite is very nice and pretty for those that do camp over. I will try my best to reserve some sun. But will arrange plenty of Coleman sheltering whatever the weather.

hi all, me and kate will be camping on the Saturday nite and doing the bbq on the sunday , do we have to book in with the camp site or can we just turn up as we are camping and caravan club members? looking forward to the weekend to have a rest and catch up with everyone. cu all there on Saturday after kate finishes work, if she has to work. cya robby n kate.
