Noticed a few spam messages from people in my contacts list which is usually as a result of something nasty on your pc.

Download this the free version of Malwarebytes and run manually once a month gets rid of the nasties better than anything else in my opinion.

If you have Windows 7 or earlier windows essentials provides free anti virus security from the link below Windows 8 and above come with free anti virus already just make sure it is switched on.

I have only ever used the standard windows firewall there are plenty of good free ones if your not happy with it, as well as plenty of alternate free anti virus software but they all seem to impact performance in some way from past experience.

If you are worried about online banking then go to https://www.trusteer.com/ProtectYourMoney which offers a good online protection program.

thanks Daz,
my email account was hacked yesterday seems to be the usual aol xmas hackers seems to be a constant problem with Aol may have been because I was using another older PC over xmas

I wouldn't worry Owen your not the only one, I would run Malwarebytes it always finds something.
