AK and friends drive out days
I want to give all you guys a heads up on 'AK and friends drive' out days. Thanks for the name Steve and Simon. They even suggested AKA.
For a while a number of us have been saying that it would be great to do a monthly drive out (not fixed yet, sometimes more than one, other months maybe not if we are at a lot of shows)" but I've collected a number of ideas together and I am about to get to working on some ideas
As we are a small , but 'beautifully formed' club we've also agreed to invite VW owners from surrounding counties. So if you have friends you'd like to include get them along and let me have their contact details so we get in touch, kep them up to date with details of each one (or just a one off) and get them along. We are approaching neighbouring clubs, so again if you have mates in them, let me have their details on a pm and I'll do the rest. And if you want to know more just ask. Most of you have my details and they are in the members section anyhow up to date.
So tomorrow, weather permitting, Ron and I (hopefully with Helen and Linda) are having a mini-drive out to discuss. But it is totally open so if you fancy a quick drive out for coffee, bit of cake or food on the way back, just let me know.
We are thinking of cursing (whoops, great typo, I meant cruising) down to Stockbridge as it's a nice village and not far away. And we may well have a bite to eat at a pub on the way back. So if you fancy coming along to hear more or just for a little Sunday cruise, cursing or praising let me know
And I think this is how this might work best. If there is somewhere you want to go with a mate and you are happy for others to come along, just let me know, give me the details and I'll help tell everyone else. I hope these weekend days out and weekends away are not going to cost a lot. For me and most of us I think it's not just where you go but about the journey. Some will include an overnight camping, others might just be an afternoon out for tea, coffee or visiting an attraction. I'm hoping we might visit other clubs too.
So lots more to come in the next couple of days. But any ideas, feedback or comments will be really welcome. Remember it doesn't matter of there are 2, 6 or 20 of you, it's the getting out in your v dubs that counts with AK and friends.

Sounds like a plan,
Stockbridge tends to get busy at the weekend but its a nice place to stop. Leckford estate is just down the road and they have a new farm shop and cafe that does cream teas if anyone fancies that haven't tried it but hear its ok and cheap! or the mayfly pub by the river at fullerton is good place to sit out if the weathers good.

Sounds great...love cream teas & Carl loves beer.
Are you thinking of coming out to play or just recommending?
What time shall we meet? 11 ish to depart 11:30. How does that sound? And shall we meet at the Chalkhill Blue?
going:

Re: AK and friends drive out days
We've rang the Mayfly and made a tentative enquiry, as we would like food from somewhere at some stage.
They seemed OK and are only really busy until 14:00, then it settles down so should be able to accommodate us in the afternoon.
If anyone wants to meet us there, please just grab Carls mobile no off the forum to check where we are and arrival times at the Mayfly.

The Leckford estate

If there is anyone that you know that you want to invite or someone who does not check the forum regularly, please give them a buzz to let them know.
More news on drive outs will be coming shortly, so please check the forum.

No problems. Let's talk tomorrow. There is always poplar farm at Abbotts Ann. Daz had his wedding reception and we've been a couple of times for food since. Always seems nice to us.

Re: AK and friends drive out days
Hi All,
Like the idea of the drive outs but cannot make today and also I'm having front beam issues now the bus is back on the floor
I will post further details on the problems as things haven't turned out as planned. :-(
I agree with Owen that Stockbridge can get busy but have heard good reports about the farm shop in Leckford doing a good breakfast and the base time to meet at the Mayfly would be after the lunchtime rush.
Will try to make the next one and see you at the next meet.
Cheers
Simon.
