Teenage Cancer Trust Empty Teenage Cancer Trust

Post by Grizzly Fri Mar 25 2011, 17:49

Ian Parsons is a an old friend of mine who is running for the Teenage Cancer Trust. I know it is something close to his heart as when I meet him he was himself being treated for cancer and was bald as a coot. He is running the Brighton Marathon on the 10th April so if anybody can spare dosh I know times are difficult then please visit his site http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/IanParsons

Thank you

Daz

As if my life wasn’t busy enough, I’m running the Brighton Marathon on 10th April. I wasn’t going to run for a charity until I saw a short film at one of the Brighton Marathon Training days. The short film was by Teenage Cancer Trust - it brought tears to my eyes and I was speechless for 30 minutes.

When I was 35 years old I had a tumor removed in my neck and afterwards had to have a daily dose of radiotherapy. This meant a Perspex mask was fitted over my face and shoulder while I was blasted with radiation, 20 times I did that. I was scared, frightened, my hair was falling out, I slept 16 hours a day, it hurt, and I had a mouthful of ulcers. If I was going through all this as an adult, what on earth was the young teenage boy with a Perspex mask having Radiotherapy I saw in the video going through?

I’m not asking a lot, just 10p a mile, a total of £2.60 (feel free to give more if you wish). It may not seem much but if ten people make a donation of £2.60 all of a sudden there is £26.60, more with gift aid. My son’s Noah and Ben have each donated from their piggy banks with their 5p’s to make £2.60.

Please make a donation at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/IanParsons and follow me at www.twitter.com/topontopoff

Many Thanks

Ian
