Anybody know of a machine shop that can line bore a case

First post on here, so big hello.

Does anybody know of a good machining company in the Salisbury / Andover area? I need to have the trust faces re cut on my case as I have to much end float and the main bearing moves.

You could try lamb engineering in south newton just outside wilton. They build custom bikes but may be able to do it they have some nice machining exquipment

Just txt him and he said he didnt have the right machine. He did sugest stateside though? I think you will have to send it to someone like that theres not many engineering places left in sailsbury area

hi simon,have you tried OWSLEBURY CRANKS in winchester.i had a valve jam on my 1500sp engine so i was going to do all the work myself , but found that the valve selves had to be heat/cool fitted. so i went to owslebury cranks (recommended by peter howard at vw martins andover), they quoted me £120 over the phone to fit the selves in 2 heads.i took all the selves , valves, heads and parts to them and when i picked them up they where completely rebuilt,looked brand new and they only changed me £90 inc vat , bargin , a good service and great value for money. i know they skim heads and do alot of engine work. they are an old school machine shop with many specialist tools. there contact details are 01962 855969, unit12 winnal valley road, winnal winchester, so23 8lu.www.ocservice.co.uk regards roman trades robby:)

I'll be very interested on hearing how you get on as I have to do this at some point. Currently have a split case that I would prefer to have align bored and dipped for piece of mind before bolting it back together.

I've now stripped engine and measured everything. Good news is case can be machined, but this will be the last time. It will take the main bores to +2mm and the trust face to -2mm. The crank is -.5mm on the mains and -.75mm on the big ends and they are undersized. So the crank is junk.

Cool cant go far wrong with them, he built a 1776 for us I just need to put it in something now
