Spot light legality?? Empty Spot light legality??

Post by Steven Sun Sep 11 2011, 19:40

Just wondering if anyone knows the laws about where you have to have a spotlight wired up to etc? I was just gonna wire it into my headlights but my ol' man says its illegal? Had a quick search on the Internet and general theme Is that you have to have it wired to the main beams so it goes out on dipped headlights

Got the spotlight mounted on the bumper just need to know where to wire it to?

Cheers

Yep spotlights should only come on with main beam otherwise it is illegal and you would also likely come up on an MOT, there also regulations to height and spacing of them.

I thought It was a spotlight was above the bumper and fog light was below? That's what I read on the net at least! And also new cars have clear fogs don't they?

Yea sounds good to me! They used to use yellow fog lights because they cut through mist and fog. Same sort of thing i have yellow snowboard goggles and there better in heavy snow/fog. Your right that new cars have white lights but then back lighting technology is better now. Back in the day some of the cars lights would have been 6volt haha!
